World Book Day

19th February 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,
As you may already know, World Book Day is the national day for celebration of books and promotion and love of reading all over the country. This year, it is on Thursday 5th March 2020. At Harrington Hill, we have some very exciting things happening for our World Book Day celebrations and we can’t wait to tell you about them! Every class will be enjoying stories from around the world or reading a story that has been created by an author or illustrator from different cultures. The day will be spent immersing themselves into these books and creating writing, art work or music linked to their book.
Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Harrington Hill! Just a reminder that from Monday 2nd March until Wednesday 4th March, we will be hosting the Scholastic book fair in the Community Room every day from 8.45-9.15am and 3:30pm – 4:00pm. There will be a wide variety of books for sale and we would love to see as many parents, carers and children there as possible. The children have been given with this letter a free ‘World Book Day’ £1 book token, which can be spent at the fair!
Get Dressed Up! We would like to invite all children to come to school dressed up as their favourite book character, favourite author, favourite illustrator or they could even come dressed as a word associated with your favourite book. Be as creative as you can. We can’t wait to see all of you at the Scholastic book fair and to see your amazing costumes on Thursday 5th March for national World Book Day.
Kind regards, Dani King
