Hello Year 1 children,
Welcome back to our fourth week of the term of teaching and learning.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend and are ready for another busy week.
As usual, email me for any misunderstanding or confusion around the tasks.
Dear parents and children I will add a clear guidance on how to complete your English activities. Each activity sheet will be provided with information around the task.
Please also use: the word mat, the adjectives mat and the guidance sheets for each activity/day. Do not forget to watch and read the story on the link below.

Monday (29thJune) Understanding a story map
The first step is to watch and listen to the story . Who is the main character?
where is the story taking place? What is the problem in the story? What is the solution?
Remember to use the Word Mat to help you complete the task.

Tuesday (30th June) Asking questions
Today we are going to ask questions to Mr Grinling and Mrs grinling. What are the words to open our questions? What do you add at the end of a question? What questions will you ask?
Remember: Word Mat and a Sentence Starter sheets to help you.

Wednesday (1st July 2020) - Creating your own character
Today I expect children to create their own character. What is your character? What's it's name? What does he look like? What does he eat? Where does he live? How does he feel?
( Use the Wednesday activity sheet to give you a clear example of how to complete this activity).
Thursday (2nd July) - Understanding a story board
Today we are creating our story boards based on the story. What did Mrs Grinling baked every day? Can you remember what did she cook on Monday?

Friday (3rd July) – Describing Mr and Mrs Grinling
Today I want you to describe Mr and Mrs Grinling?
What do they look like? Where do they live? What do they wear? Are they kind?
How do they feel?

Spelling – Practice your spellings by playing this game
Phonics: Please copy this link into a search bar for exciting phonics games. Focus on SET 2 and SET 3 please. Ask your child to say the words pinch their fingers to write the words and write a sentence with each word from SET 2 and SET 3.
Try to read for 20 minutes a day. Please remember to swap your books every Thursday (from 11.00-12.30) if you have finished the books you have at home.
Mrs Kennedy found a lovely book to read too. You may want to read part of it each day with your parents or carers at home. It is called The Book of Hope. Please click on the link or copy and paste it to the search bar to open it.
You will need a username and a password to access maths activities. Each day you will be asked to complete a sheet or two, depending on the task.
