Year 5

Home Learning

Mrs Watson

Teacher

Welcome to the Year Five home learning page:

Our home learning is intended to develop our pupils' excitement and passion for their learning and to help parents support their children at home.

During the week daily activities will be added to:

  • Ensure that parents are clear about what their child is expected to do;
  • Ensure consistency of approach throughout the school during the closure;
  • To use home learning as a tool to help to continue to raise standards of attainment;
  • Improve the quality of the learning experience offered to pupils and to extend it beyond the classroom environment;
  • Provide opportunities for parents, children and the school to work together in partnership in relation to pupils’ learning;
  • Encourage pupils and their parents to share and enjoy learning experiences;
  • Reinforce learning covered in class by providing further opportunities for the individual pupil;
  • To practise or consolidate basic skills and knowledge.

*MATHS – The activity that I have given you today may require you to draw your own place value charts, just like the ones shown, in order to answer the question. You may also have to copy a few number lines and bar models into your books.

*HANDWRITING TASK – Copy the poem into your books using your best continuous cursive handwriting. I have included a “Continuous Cursive Handwriting Expectations” link, to allow you to check if you are forming your letters correctly.

DRAWING TASK – Read the information given and have a go at creating your own Op Art. You will need a ruler, or something with a straight edge to draw your lines.

I have included the next chapter of our class novel, join me as we find out whether our narrator was successful in his mission. Will they get their letter to the queen? What do we predict will happen next?

I have just sent emails which will include login details. These logins are to give you access to Times Tables Rock Stars, an online platform allowing you to practise your times tables.
What is wonderful about this platform is that I can organise and hold battles to put your knowledge to the test. Keep your eyes open, and get practising! How far up the leaderboard can you get?

I have provided some further information below.
