  • Improve the quality of the learning experience offered to pupils and to extend it beyond the classroom environment;
  • Provide opportunities for parents, children and the school to work together in partnership in relation to pupils’ learning;
  • Encourage pupils and their parents to share and enjoy learning experiences;
  • Reinforce learning covered in class by providing further opportunities for the individual pupil;
  • To practise or consolidate basic skills and knowledge;
Good morning Aqua class!

I'd like to start by saying well done to Jose, Jeet, Lakeeta and Shay for the work they sent me yesterday - I especially enjoyed reading your spooky stories! I have rewarded your dojo points - I will also be adding dojo's weekly for those of you who are completing your daily Times Tables Rockstars.

It has been a week now since schools have closed and I am so very proud of each and every one of you for coping maturely during these times. If ever you feel a little bit anxious, bored or lonely, remember I am only an email away and would love to speak to you all whenever you like!
I would also like to let you all know I have finally downloaded tik tok and will maybe send you a video if I become any good at using it!

You can begin your morning with a Joe Wicks workout - click here: Joe Wicks
If you preferred yoga and would like to repeat yesterday's workout, then click on this link: Yoga

Spanish

Click on this Rockalingua link,  you will recognise it from Miss Navarro's lessons. You can select to watch videos (if you need a recap), listen to the songs (to see if you can remember the words and meanings) and click on games to revise what you have learnt. There is an easy or difficult option for each game! Enjoy! Click here to begin: Rocka Lingua!

Spelling

 Select the final two words of the week to practice and write down the definition for each before using it in a sentence. Can you now create your own wordsearch with all of the words you have learnt this week? If an adult is available, ask them to test you on these spellings.
Then, spend 15 minutes on Times Tables Rockstars to keep your progress moving! A special well done to: Shay, Cristal, Lakeeta, Jeet, Isaiah, Berkay and Maya who have earned 5 dojo points!

Literacy

Select the same image you used yesterday but your task now is to describe it by creating a peaceful and cheerful mood. Think about the weather and how this can impact the mood? Can you hear the chirping of birds? Are flowers beginning to bloom? Has the sky been painted with a bright blue backdrop? Instead of gnarled weeds reaching out from the pathway, are there colourful potted plants? I will reward the best transformation 8 dojo points with 5 for two runners up! May the odds be ever in your favour! :)

Reading

Complete the comprehension on the circulatory system. You can select the challenge of your choice. For a trickier option, scroll down to the last text and questions.
Maths

Mark your answers from yesterday before beginning today's tasks. Can you come up with your own word problems linked with ratio? Maybe an adult at home can have a go at answering them?

Science

Look through the PowerPoint and then write an information text on the function of the heart - how does it work. Can you give me a step by step guide. You already wrote a brief paragraph at school on the heart. This should not be similar to that. See this picture as an example.

P.E
This morning you have some relaxing stretches and yoga rather than a Joe Wicks workout! Click on this link to begin: Yoga

Reading

Now, you have 30 minutes of reading time - if you choose to read alone, make sure you are reading out loud. Focus on your tone and pace - if a character is speaking, how do you think they would say that line? Are you pausing at every comma and stopping at each full stop? Be mindful of how your reading sounds. If you are able to, use this time to read with an adult so they can hear your tone and give you feedback on your pace.

Arithmetic

Complete your arithmetic paper within 30 minutes. When you have finished, login to your times tables rockstars for 15 minutes!  Well done to: Shay, Berkay, Gurpreet and Jagoda so far-  you have all earned 5 dojo points! :)

Break

I have uploaded an optional word search for you to have a go at during your break if you would like.

Literacy

For literacy, you will doing a piece of suspenseful and spooky writing! First work your way through the PowerPoint. You may then a) continue building on your paragraph and turn it into a story or b) select one of the worksheets and write another suspenseful paragraph describing the image.

SPaG

Complete the SPaG paper – you will have the chance to mark it tomorrow.

Maths

Answer the work from yesterday before beginning your daily tasks.

Handwriting

Read and copy the poem in your neatest, joined writing. Remember that it is a poem so the verses should be copied out correctly.  Sit up straight with both feet firmly on the floor and one hand flat on the table when completing this task.

Newsround Task

Watch today's Newsround. Select one topic which is covered to write a short paragraph or fact file on. You will then present this to your family! Think about ‘Fruityliscious Podcast’ as inspiration.

Wednesday 25th March
Good morning Aqua class!

What a lovely and sunny week it has been so far.. why don't you look outside your window at lunch today and do a simple sketch drawing of what you can see? Perhaps you will spot some shadows and can use your shading techniques to create this? If you have a balcony or a garden, you can explore to see if there are any creepy crawlies who may like a portrait :)

I hope you are able to understand and complete the tasks I upload for you each day - well done to a couple of you who have emailed me to ask for an explanation when you were stuck. Even if you simply want to check in or tell me about your day, feel free! I would love to hear how you are all doing.

Start your morning with a fun and interactive LIVE sports session with Joe Wicks - I really enjoy these each morning - I hope you are all taking part!
Alternatively, you can choose one of his shorter 'kids workouts' from his YouTube page: Joe Wicks Daily Sports

Spelling and Times tables

Today, you should be on word 5 and 6, practice how to spell them and use these in a sentence. Can someone at home test you on these? You should now be able to spell words 1-4 and recall their meanings.
If you found the first four words a little bit tricky, then just spend today recapping them. Maybe you can draw little images to remind you of what they mean or break them down into syllables to help you remember.

Then use your Times table rock star logins to have some timetables fun!
I have attached the power-point below which will explain all of the different things you can do on this website - including versing a class mate! I will check your progress daily with my login and award dojo's for pupils who are practising daily.
You can login here: https://play.ttrockstars.com/
Maths

Check your answers from yesterday before beginning today's maths task. Remember, you can always use videos on YouTube to explain the steps of a method. You will all recognise this very helpful man: Math antics!

I will post the answers tomorrow morning as usual so you can check your work!

Read and answer the questions based on the text 'Sea Unicorn'.
Clarify any words you do not understand - can you add any to your valuable vocabulary books?
I will upload the answers tomorrow :)

In PSHCE this term, we had started learning about global warming and what we could do to reduce this.  This week we will be looking at how reducing our energy consumption can help.
- First, have a look at this video on Global Warming
- Then, research and compare renewable and non-renewable energy, thinking about which is better for our environment.
- Finally, design a poster encouraging others to reduce their energy consumption.  Look at the PowerPoint below for more information.  Don't forget to send a photo of your finished posters!

Check your answers for Ice Fishing with the mark scheme below.
Today you will be reading independently for 30 minutes. I have uploaded a sheet which has some questions for you to answer and other questions you should always be thinking about when reading.
Literacy

Today you will be writing a persuasive letter in Literacy. Luckily, we covered this topic last week so the persuasive techniques should still be fresh in your minds! Spend 20 minutes brainstorming ideas and then 40 minutes writing your letter.

Challenge: Use a sentence with a colon and an 'Imagine' sentence.
Music

Work at your own pace through these essential skills related to music on this link: Music essentials
Begin by clicking on the 'What are pulse and rhythm' video.

Learn the meanings of the key words. What do you think of Anna Meredith's percussion piece?
Try to clap your hands to the rhythm - do you find it tricky?

Now move on to the 'What are duration and tempo' video. When you have finished looking through this page, listen to some of Beethoven's music. Think about the following questions:
Do you like it?
What genre would is it?
How is it the same or different to music you prefer to listen to?

Can you write a few words to summarise each paragraph as you read through it? Add any new words you have learnt to your valuable vocabulary books - maybe you can test someone at home to see if they know the meanings as well?

I will upload the answers tomorrow so you can check and mark your answers.
Art

This week, we will have a go at creating optical illusions like Bridget Riley.
Have a look at some of Bridget Riley's work here
Then, look at the task below with information and instructions on how to create your own optical illusion.
You can work on this as you wish throughout the week - I would love to see some of your finished art work!

Do you want to have a go at a fun science experiment this week?
You can try to make your own blood model in a bottle!

If you want to have a go, follow the steps on this link and be sure to send me pictures of your end product! If you do not have all of the ingredients at home, get creative and improvise!
