Take some time now to mark your work from yesterday using the answer sheets below and fix any mistakes that you have made.
Spelling and handwriting
This week, we will be looking at some of the most commonly misspelled homophones in the English language.  Can you remember what a homophone is?  They are words that have the same pronunciation but different meanings and spellings.  Look at the introduction to homophones which will explain your spelling words for this week.  Then, complete the homophones word search.  Finally, practise your handwriting using this week's spelling words.
In writing this week, you will be helping David Attenborough with a number of tasks.  The first task he has asked you to help him with is writing a persuasive leaflet for a new zoo he would like to open.  Read the task outline below and then plan and write the introduction for your leaflet.  You will have today and tomorrow to complete the writing task.
Reading Comprehension
Today, you will be reading about David Attenborough's life.  When you are finished, answer the questions.  I will upload the answers tomorrow so you can mark it.
Reading for pleasure
Choose any book from home and read for 30 minutes.  When you are finished, complete one of the activities in the sheet below.  Discuss it with your mum/dad/carer and see if you can earn points for each activity you complete.
Drawing Challenge
I really enjoyed your drawings of Greg from last week's drawing challenge and congratulations to Filip who was our winner.  Remember to send me your drawings when you are done.  This week, your challenge is to draw a tiger by following the instructions on the video link here.
Finally, finish your day by choosing from one of weekly challenges:
  • Topic
  • Computing
  • Science
  • Art
  • Dt
You can choose a different activity every afternoon or spend longer on an activity that interests you.
I hope you enjoyed the learning activities for the day, enjoy your evenings!
Weekly Activities
This week, we will be continuing to look at how we can become global citizens and protect our environment.  Our topic will be about plastic pollution in our oceans and the effect this is having on sea creatures.  Have a look at this video to look at how we are damaging their habitat.  After, read the introduction on plastic pollution and ways we can help.  Finally, your task this week is to make a sculpture of a sea creature from recycled plastic materials to raise awareness of the damage we are doing to our oceans.
Now we are spending a lot more time inside, I often look around my apartment and imagine how I would change it.  Now is your chance!  You can become an architect and design your own house using 'Sketch up'.  Just google 'Sketch up' and register for a free 30 day trial.  Then follow the instructions below explaining your first task.  We will continue this next week too.
This week, we are going to look at a new technique pointillism to create a picture of our favourite animal.  Before starting your picture, read about pointillism below.  When you have completed your picture, please send me a photo - I would love to see them!  I will award 5 Dojo points to the best pictures.
I need your help!  Over the past few days, I have started making healthy snacks for Grace in the shape of different animals (see below) but I am running out of ideas.  Can you design a healthy snack in the shape of any animal?  Research for ideas, draw a plan and write the steps to make the snack and if you can, make it and send a photo.  I would really appreciate your ideas!
Something extra
If you would like to do something extra in the evenings, you should watch David Attenborough's new series on Netflix 'Our Planet' where he talks about what we can do to protect animals and their habitats.  if you do not have a Netflix account don't worry, look at his series on I-Player Seven Worlds One Planet.
